Each group has its own different cognitive metaphors, focus points, lexicons, and languages. Just finished a discussion with some Tea Party members who could not understand that their behavior was immoral. After I put it in the context of family and scripture my point got through crystal clear. If we are going to succeed at rebuilding trust, we are going to have to learn how the other side thinks, speaks, and behaves and why.
